3/23/08 Flew Southwest from SFO to LAX - NCL shuttle to San Pedro was quick and efficient. Time it took it to get through embarkation process - 20 minutes. Boarded the ship and ate in the Market Cafe while we waited an hour or so for our cabin, an AF category mini suite, to be ready. LOVED the cabin! The balcony was incredible, and the room was spacious with a generous-sized bathroom - full bathtub, shower, sink, and separate toilet area with its own sliding door for privacy. Changed in to our swimsuits and went to the buffet dinner poolside - also went to the welcome aboard show that evening in the theater.

3/24 & 3/25 were 2 days at sea. We are a family with 2 young children (boys ages 3 and 8). Our travel agent is brilliant and she booked us a cabin starboard aft so we were able to gaze at the ocean for the first 2 days and then be on the correct side for viewing all the entries and exits into our ports of call on the way back north. We spent the days at sea swimming, using the waterslides, the kids both loved the kids' programs (the counselors are really a lot of fun and very kind and nice to the kids), and of course we ate a lot. The food, especially in the dining room Versailles is great! My husband used to be an executive chef and even he was impressed by the food at Versailles. We did not have one bad meal there the entire 8 days. The food was so good that we did not eat at any of the specialty restaurants.

3/26 Acapulco. We got off the ship and ventured over to the historic Fort San Diego. Was surprised at how very hot it was (high 90's with high 90's humidity). Met up with our group to bus over to the Diamond area and do the Baby Sea Turtles excursion. The group was led by fabulous tourguides, they were funny and educational. We all learned about the program and about the species of turtles, and then were led to the beach where we each held a baby golfina turtle which had just hatched that very day. After holding it we put it on the sand where the surf gently rolled in and carried them out to sea. Everyone had a great time. This is a good excursion to do if you are like me and want to get out of the busy/crowded city of Acapulco and do something educational and fun.
