Review: The facts are these : I am a first time cruiser and went on the Disney Wonder with my husband, a friend and our 2 daughters ages 14. I am a huge Disney fan and have been to Disney 9 times. I chose the Disney name for quality. I read all the reviews about the ship. I only saw 1 bad review, and what the review said was true on my visit as well.
Being an experienced traveler to the Bahamas, I expected more. The ship is charming, but it had a bad odor to it. The room is ordinary and dated.The elevators take too long to use. The help do not speak English well (waitstaff) The help on the first day ask you to buy water so many times that I told the waiter not to ask anymore as my husband was very offended. The food at the buffet was very average. Dinner at night was forced, and not pleasant. Breakfast is best at the high class place for the buffet. I did not expect to drink from plastic . Order the fish, because the meat tasted like it was old. My husband did not like the food at all. The kids went to the teen club , but being from where I live, it was nothing special. Go to Atlantis, but this 1 day excursion is not enough time for all the water sports. The last night you must pack your luggage up, This spoils your last time. Furthermore, they left my luggage at port canaveral instead of sending it to JetBlue. My husband made me go check to see my luggage was left, and sure enough, it was left , and not sent to jet blue. Nightclub entertainment was very average. Nothing for 45-50 age category that i could see on route 66. a very bad bon jovi review, and dancers that were not even as good as my daughters dance team. Bathrooms: This sounds odd, but why do the toilets look like airplane toilets. I was so happy to see a porcelain toilet at Castaway Cay. Speaking of this, this is a nice place . but too disneyed up for me. CUte for parents with little kids. Positive: Adult only beach. Food average.
The good points: 1. The fitness center was perfection and well done. Go there for the eucalyptus smell, and for the gym expert. He was just great. Also free water. 2. The ship captain Ray, was very nice to me and my friend. 3. I can now say I finally went on a cruise.
