Traveled with children

We have been on several cruises and this year our kids were getting their own rooms. So I booked three rooms on the Legend. Ours being a balcony room and the kids just regular rooms connecting. As soon as we showed up our beds were all wrong. Twins in our room and queens in the kids. I guess this was a sign of things to come. I had to call several times to get my refrigerator unlocked for my medications and our comforter was very dirty so it needed to be replaced. We headed in to grab some food and at the buffet and they actually serve you. Like I am some child or something. How do you build a salad having someone give you each individual item???? It was ridiculous. They were using tongs to serve most foods. Example would be the chinese line. I had to literally hold my plate up and tell him I would like more and he should grab a large serving spoon or were going to be here most of the day. There is a pretty good language barrier with most employees but I speak pretty good body language. I should not have to go through that for a buffet. The sit down dinner was good as far as food goes but the service was very poor. One server was taking care of several tables. One our last Royal Caribbean cruise(I highly recommend the Owners Suites!!) we had one server and one assistant just for drinks and to help out. Our guy, as nice as he was, which was only cordial, was drowning the entire time. Another example of poor attitude would be when I went to the coffee bar to buy a white chocolate moose dessert. It was a very cool looking item. She pulled the tray out which had two of these standing up. I walked along the counter to watch her. She glanced up at me and dropped it. She actually had the nerve to blame it on me. I mean she was literally upset at me. Probably more to the effect that she hopes I choke on it. At least thats what my wife and I interpreted it as. We went and saw a random show that had dancing and singing. OMG... PAHHHHH-LEASE it was hilarious. I almost wanted to volunteer to be their choreographer. I kid you not they looked like frogs in a blender. Not one had any sort of dancing abilities. The singers were barely tolerable. My list could go on and on down to the tiniest details but I will add that all of the elevator doors are polished steel and dented, our hallways smelled of vomit, the "specialty egg cooker" for breakfast cant speak english or cook eggs worth a darn, the internet service is slower than dial up at up to $.75 a minute. I bought 250 minutes for $100 ($.40)and it was the largest, cheapest available. Our kids are 14 and 16 and there is very little to do for that exact age group. We asked if the TV's in the rooms had plug ins for our Wii's and were told no twice. Walking into our room they are there... go figure. The carpet is pretty worn all around the ship..... lots of stains. Our cruise was scheduled for Costa Maya and we ended up in Honduras. Now I was told, once on the ship that this was happening. No one ever wrote to us or called ahead of time to let us know. Honduras is a very poor place, I would equate it to Ensenada, Mexico. The stay was disappointing. As well we were switching the order of ports due to too many ships scheduled into Belize. Once again only once we walked onto the ship were we handed a paper letting us know. Actually it was the first thing they handed us. Even before they greeted us....oh wait, nevermind, that never happened. All in all we had a good time. It would be hard to go and not to. Besides we had our very dear friends with us in a "Suite".... but thats a whole different review.... I would equate the Carnival Cruise to the Wal-Mart of Cruises. Very similar in fact....all the way down to some of the gene pools aboard. I am a pretty laid back guy but I definitely enjoy the finer things in life! I speak whats on my mind just how I see it. I am not trying to sugar coat this or make it any worse. So take it for what its worth..... Happy Vacationing!!!!
