After reading several reviews on the Pride of America, we were in a quandary whether to go or not. As it was our retirement plus wedding anniversary, we decided it could not be as bad as some made out and decided to take the plunge. Our travel agent had no brochures on the cruise or ship, the only information we could find was on the net, which was not encouraging. After booking the trip, I found this site and contacted a couple of previous cruise people. They were very helpful and put our minds at ease about our holiday.

We boarded on 8th March and do not regret going at all. We went with some expectations of bad food, service, dirty cabins, smelly toilets, boarding etc. There was a minor wait to board, but with so many passengers you expect that. Once boarded we went to the Aloha Cafe where there was a great variety of food to be had. OK, its not gourmet, but we thought it was good. There was some wait before we could go to our cabin, but we managed to meet some lovely people whilst waiting. The cabin was bigger than we expected, with lots of storage for clothing and luggage. If you want to be exceptionally critical of it, then the floor could have done with a vacuum, but overall it was not too bad. The bed was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed having it as our little retreat from people. The shower was plentiful and bathroom big enough.

The first night out we ate at Jeffersons Restaurant which was nice food, but we were happy eating at the other restaurants, so did not feel the need to pay extra for the other restaurants. We ate in Aloha, Skyline, Liberty and Cadillac Diner. All were ok. The service was ok in Skyline and Liberty. There was a short wait one night, but other than that we were happy with both restaurants. The poor kids have to deal with a lot of people and some were not easy to deal with...
