Ship Facts: Carnival Destiny Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Destiny Deck Plans
So much fun in the sun!!!!
My girlfriend and I were on the destiny March 9th - March 16th. First let me say that is a fantastic trip, one of the best I have been on. This was my third cruise and my girlfriends first. If you are looking for a Hilton like trip this is not the ship for you but if you are looking for an affordable cruise and a great time than this is the trip for you. It is definitely not the newest ship in the fleet but the crew does a great job keeping it clean and looking good. All the staff were fantastic to us our waiter Ernesto and room steward Nat were top notch. All the negatives reviews seem to be nit picking all the small things. You could do this on ay ship or any trip that you go on. If you can overlook the small stuff you will have a great time.

Embarkation was fast and easy. We arrived at the peer at 4 and were on the deck in our swimsuits by 5 with a cocktail. We hung out there and met a great couple that we chatted with all week. Did the buffet for dinner and went to the sail away party it was great.

Food- We did room service almost every morning because we wanted to get of the ship right away to shop and to do our excursions. We would order sandwiches and bring them ashore for lunch. We had late seating in the Universe dinning room. Food was great always something different to choose from or if you liked something from an earlier night all you had to do is let them know.

Shows- We did the shows every night and they were outstanding. I would highly recommend going to them.

St. Thomas- This is a great Island to shop or hit the beach. We did both. We met Tim form Tim's Tours in town while we were shopping. He asked if we wanted a tour which would take us to the beach for a couple hours. For 25 bucks we saw the island, took pictures, and snorkeled at Sapphire Beach which was great. Sonny Liston took us back to the ship because we were the only ones from Tim's group that wanted to stay at the beach. He was great, playing music, singing and having a great time.

Dominica- We did a Canopy challenge and River tubing through shoretips.com and it was great. Only 5 people in our group and we saved a ton of money. We couldn't even do both through the ship. That took up most of the day got back to the ship and hung out at the pool.

Barbados- Walked to town to shop it's only about a mile. We went on an excursion through carnival to snorkel and party cruise on a catamaran. The snorkeling was not that good but the party on the way back made up for it. We met two couples that we hung out with the rest of the trip it was great. Got back to the ship and hung by the pool before dinner and the shows.

St. Lucia- We went deep sea fishing through shore trips again. No fish landed but we hooked a marlin and to smaller fish. Very fun and I will be doing it again. Got back to the pier by noon and got a cab to the beach for the rest of the afternoon. When we got back on the ship we went the pool again before dinner.

Antigua- Nothing planned but to hit the beach and that's what we did. Took a cab with the couple we met in Barbados for 3 bucks each to Dickenson Bay. What a beautiful beach, all the activities you could ask for. It's right in front of the Sandals. After six hours on the beach we hit the pool again on the ship before dinner and the shows.

St. Kitts- Originally we didn't have anything planned but ours friends we met were doing the Fan-ta-sea trip so we decided to go along and we were glad we did. The snorkeling was great, lunch on the beach in Nevis was awesome. The ride back was another party. These were two of our favorite islands. Got back to the ship just in time and hit the pool just like every other day.

We did the express luggage for 15 dollars it was great. Since our flight didn't leave until 3 we were off the ship by 9 and walked to the fort. Spent the morning shopping and having lunch in old San Juan. We got back to the pier at 12:30 to catch the last shuttle to the airport.

Overall this was an amazing trip. We met great people, had great service, and got the most we could out of our trip. If you want to have a great trip, see and do a lot than this is the ship for you. I would be happy to answer anymore questions anyone may have. jwegwe@district16.org
