IN THE BEGINNING...We started our journey driving to Syracuse (yup another Canuck)staying the night and flying out early the next day to meet the ship in San Juan. However it didn't quiet work out as planned. Once we hit the US boarder we ran into a snow storm and crawled our way to Syracuse. Woke up the next day and was at the airport before 5:00 am only to find our flight had been cancelled and was told we couldn't get out until Monday! We were not the only ones seeing our stress levels rise. People were all cell phones desperately trying to find flights out of neighboring (yup Canadian) towns while there partners were lining up with other airlines to see if they had planes flying. After an exhaustive search I came to the realization that we were going to miss the boat!
PLAN B Catch boat at next island I decided it was best to head south and avoid mother natures wrath. The best solution was to rent a honkin SUV and drive to Baltimore and fly out the next morning to Tortola via San Juan. We arrived at the Baltimore airport again before 5:00 am only to be identified for extra security screening (I said to my wife I would expect nothing less considering what we had been through) Once in San Juan we were told there were only seats for 3 of us. Fortunately after escalating things to management all 4 of us flew to Tortola.
THE TRIP BEGINS Princess was great the picked us and a few other stranglers up at the San Juan airport and whisked us off to the ship. Once there embarkation was a snap. Princess also credited us for the days missed which I thought was very generous considering I had booked the flights independently.
