Just returned from an 8 day cruise on Jewel of the Sea - This ship was brought out in 2004 and it has been kept up very good. Everything was very clean. This ship did not have Johnny Rocket's on it nor did it have the ice skating rink which of course would have had the ice skating show, which we really have liked on other RC ships. Not so much Johnny Rocket's but the ice show was always good. We had a balcony stateroom and of course that is always great. We toured the same ports that we have toured many times before and that sort of lacked luster for us - probably time to make a change. Our cabin was kept very neat and clean by our stateroom attendant. The food was okay. We ate at Chops and Portofino and we have eaten on other ships at those two restaurants before and I must say before was better. We were really disappointed with Chops and Portofino this time. The steaks were not as good as other sailings and the menu for Portofino must have changed because the selection wasn't as good as before. The waiter at our dinner seating was very good and most attentive. The bar person didn't come around too often and I had to call her attention to that and then she was attentive - not that we drink that much but that particular service wasn't real good. The shows were the usual dance recital type - but they did have a really good lady entertainer one night and her name escapes me but I believe she was an international star - reminded me of a Sophie Tucker (the younger set won't know who she was but us older folks will remember her) and that was a good show. The comedian was okay - the dance music in the bars was really good. It is a beautiful ship. As always when you return you can't wait to go again - but the next time I think we will pick a bigger ship...why ....don't know....Jewel all of a sudden seemed very small to me.....but it was a fun trip and I highly recommend cruising for everyone....the ocean was most calm and the sunsets were beautiful...all in all it was a good trip.
