We are experienced cruisers. My husband has been on 17 cruises, myself 11 and this was my son's 6th cruise. Overall had a very nice time and was impressed with RCCL. We flew into Houston and purchased a ship's transfer. GREAT IDEA. It is a money saver and a time saver. Royal Caribbean desk right at the airport and we waited about 20 minutes and off to the ship. Lot's of people waiting to get on but very efficient. We were on board within 30 minutes of arriving. Please fill out the forms on the internet. It saves yourself and all other guests a lot of time. Lots of spring breakers from colleges and quite a few families. the majority of the passengers were from Texas so if you don't like Texans don't go on a cruise out of Galveston. Food was absolutely exceptional in every way. And we are Oceania fans. Lots of creativity and everything was fresh. First night of Atlantic cod topped with a cilantro pesto was very memorable. We eat every meal we can in the dining room. Only complaint was that the lunch menu is always the same for dining room lunch. Service was great, our waiter and bus person are leaving the ship off to get married to each other! We wish them all the best. Shore Excursions. My son and I went on the Tabayna Beach and Snorkel. Beautiful beach but not allowed to snorkel anywhere near the coral because it is too shallow. So then you just look at sand. Also lots of college age drinking on that excursion. My son loved the Cozumel Horseback Riding. They take you out to a ranch and saddle up and then ride by Mayan ruins with a guide that explains the history. Definitely a highlight. The port of Progresso was not much. My husband and I took the shore excursion to Merida. With any limited Spanish knowledge and a sense of adventure, take the bus. Only costs a few dollars. The city is wonderful an old colonial city. Art museums and Anthropology Museums that you don't get on the tour since they want to take you to way too expensive shopping. We would Definitely go there again on our own. It is also off the cruise ship path, they only get 3 to 4 ships a week, so it's not crowded. Now for the big ship part. It's a big ship but the crowds are handled very nicely. You never feel crowded. Nice adult pool. Ice skating show very nice, get tickets early. The kids program did not interest my son. It might be that he is 14 so on the older side of the 12 to 14 age group. This is in contrast to all other cruises, where he attended to kids activities day and night. Great cruise would do again!
