This was my third cruise (first with RCCL) and his first. We flew from Buffalo to Atlanta, Atlanta to Miami. This was the first time I had ever taken a connecting flight anywhere and I wouldn't do it again if at all possible. I would prefer to just get to the destination asap!! Embarkation: When we got to the dock a lot of people were arriving at the same time. The line up was huge and it moved very slowly!!! We waited at least an hour and a half to get on the ship. The previous cruises I had taken with Carnival and had never waited more than 15 minutes. We finally got on the ship and I have to say I was a little disappointed by the atrium. In my opinion it was kind of dated. The carpet was very old and stained in many areas. I had heard this ship had some updating and it was obvious after being on the ship for 5 days which areas had been updated and which hadn't. We went to our room. It was small but definitely adequate. It was great to have a window that was big and unobstructed. The closet was big and had plenty of hangers and shelving to put our clothes on. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was new and nice. The bathroom was small but clean and functional. In my opinion the room was perfect for the amount of time you actually spend in it. We went to the dining room every night for supper. We sat with two other couples who were from Israel and Mexico. It was great to get to know them through the week!! Each night the food was excellent!!! We never had any complaints. Our waiters name was Yancy and he was great. Yancy and his assistant worked so so so hard and their level of service was phenomenal!! We enjoyed breakfast in the Windjammer every day and it was always good. It was the same everyday but there's really only so many different breakfast foods and I think they had it all. Lunch in the Windjammer was a bit of a disappointment. There wasn't that much selection and some things looked a little unappealing. We ate a couple times in the deli which we enjoyed. Our first port was Nassau Bahamas. We had prebooked an excursion at the Atlantis Resort. We are so glad we did this because we had an amazing time!! It was the most expensive Atlantis excursion but it gave us access to the entire resort. We toured around the whole resort, went through the aquariums and then spent the remainder of the day in the water park. This day was probably the highlight of our vacation!!! The next day we were supposed to be in CoCoCay. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. It was cloudy and wavy. The staff decided it was unsafe to let people off the ship so the port got cancelled. It was changed to a "day at sea" instead. It was disappointing for us as we had planned to have a relaxing day on the beach and to do some snorkeling. The staff did the best they could and added several activities to the day. Since we didn't get to go snorkeling in CoCoCay we decided to book a snorkeling excursion in Key West for the next day. When we woke up in Key West it was sunny so we were pretty excited. Our excursion wasn't until the afternoon so we decided to walk around for awhile. The weather was very sunny but there was a wind that was pretty strong and quite cool. We walked around to the shops for awhile then went to meet for the excursion. It was definitely too cold to be swimming!!! The excursion staff were wearing jeans and jackets!! There were several other people thinking the same thing as us about the weather. They gave everyone the option to either go on the excursion or get a refund. We chose to get a refund as were weren't about to risk getting sick after swimming on a day that was 15 degrees (in the 60's farenheit). We decided to just take a taxi to a nearby beach and relax there for a bit. We wanted to be near the ocean at least once during the vacation. Later we went to the excursions desk and got a full refund for the snorkeling without any hassle at all. Entertainment: We checked out a show one night and it was pretty good. The dancing and singing was well done. The comedian was really funny!! We went to the piano bar one night and it was pretty disappointing. The "musician" was not all that great. Last year on Carnival the musician at the piano bar was phenomenal. He knew tons of songs and could play piano and sing amazingly!!! The guy on the Majesty could not hold a note and played the wrong piano notes a lot. He also had a machine that played a drum beat and he played EVERY song to a drum beat. He should have been able to just play and sing the songs without the drum beat accompanying. We checked out the casino a couple times. We were not used to the fact that people could smoke in the casino or any other parts of the ship. In Ontario people aren't allowed to smoke inside ANY building so it took us a little bit of time to get used to people smoking onboard. We mostly tried to avoid areas where people were allowed to smoke as we are nonsmokers and don't enjoy inhaling second hand smoke. Thankfully there were plenty of areas that were nonsmoking so this wasn't much of a problem. The shops onboard had some really nice stuff and if you wait until closer to the end of the cruise then things go on sale. My travelling partner bought a really nice Guess watch for a pretty decent price. Disembarking was very easy a quick. We had an early flight so we chose to take our own luggage off. We made sure we were up early and ready to go. After the ship was cleared by customs we were allowed to leave. This was a very fast process and I would recommend it especially if you have an early flight. All in all I enjoyed my vacation but compared to my 2 previous cruises this was my least favorite for a couple reasons. In the future I would travel with RCCL again but I would choose to go on one of their newer, bigger ships. I would also probably choose a cruise with a different itinerary. I chose the Bahamas itinerary because I had never been to Bahamas before and I thought because it was later in the season we would be guaranteed hot weather. In the future I will definitely choose a cruise itinerary with ports that are farther down south (last year I went to San Juan, St. Marten and St. Thomas and the weather was fabulous the entire time!!). I would still recommend cruising to anyone!!! I plan to cruise again!!
