We sailed on the 5 night cruise with our 3 children (9,7,4). This was our first cruise with the kids. Our first 2 cruises were 16 and 10 years ago. We had never sailed on a large ship before. It was much nicer than the pictures. The freestyle cruising hooked us. We didn't want to worry about dinner seatings and eating with strangers with the kids.
Embarkation was a breeze. We arrived around 12:15. We were on the ship in 15 minutes. We were invited to have lunch in the Garden Buffet. It was extremely crowded. Our rooms were available shortly after. We had one mini-suite and one inside state room across the hall. The mini-suite with the balcony was well worth the money, although I did not get to see the size of the balcony room. We were able to fit all three kids on the couch bed sideways so that we could sleep together most nights. The queen bed was very comfortable and seemed larger than a standard queen. Their was plenty of storage space and the bathroom was laid out nicely. We didn't use the tub but it would be nice with little ones.
