We just returned from Panama Canal aboard the Brilliance of the Seas this January and has such a good time we booked another before we disembarked. All went well until we arrived at our suite (room 7128). It was not acceptable to say the least. The balcony window was cracked from left to right and from top to bottom. I immediately called to complain and was told they would get back to me later about a room change since this was a full cruise. Next morning we have a tour scheduled at 8:15 a.m. so I brushing my teeth with the water running when I feel my feet getting wet. I look down to see the floor flooded with water (and other muck) coming from the bathroom floor drain. This was also reported by phone and to our room stewart Mr. Fox.
Upon returning to the ship we were given keys to another room (7502), although a bit smaller it was at least in ship shape. I later asked guest services manager Pablo Andrada if anything would be offered for the inconvenience and was told nothing else could be done. Needless to say we were a bit thrown back by the initial experience but adjusted accordingly to a nice cruise from day 3 on. The Royal Caribbean staff was their usual fantastic selves and all levels of service were either at or above average. Though the ship is old and not one I would recommend it still offers a decent value for the dollar. I must say we will stick with the newer 100+ ton ships in the future.
