We boarded without any fuss or lines to be told they had somehow got my wife down twice and I was not on the booking. This was resolved very quickly and amicably. On being given our cruise cards we noticed that we had been given 2nd dinner sitting despite having confirmation that we were on 1st sitting. Boarded ship and was greeted very well. The ship was very clean and the ambience looked good. We went to our cabin to be met by the most charming stateroom assistant who showed us where everything was (even though we knew)and left us feeling happy. We went up to the 9th deck to have lunch and could not help noticing the cleanliness and presentation of the food to be first rate. Only criticism was that we should have had alcohol hand washing machines by the food counters. Lifeboat drill was carried out with great courtesy and ease of movement. We then had the most horrific experience when we went to see the Maitre D re our dinner sitting.  We by chance had met another couple who had been given 1st sitting but wanted 2nd. This was easy or so we thought in that all the Maitre D had to do was swap our name around. You would have thought we had asked him to commit murder. He banged his fist down on the desk and said why cant you people accept what you have been given the same as 200 other people on the ship. I politely explained that my wife suffers from a medical condition that means she cannot eat late, and we had telephoned Carnival 4 weeks earlier and had it confirmed that we could have 1st sitting. He replied that he was not interested in medical conditions calling us liars. I pointed out to this rude and obnoxious man that he had a duty to be courteous and polite and this tirade was unacceptable. I also reminded him who paid his wages. US. This had a mellowing effect on him, but he still patronized us with the , we come and see me at 6-15 and I will try and fit you in. We came back at 6-15 and he led us to a table laid out for 8 people but nobody was seated on it. On looking round there were many tables with vacancies and I was astounded that he should have adopted the stance he did in the first place. I accept he has many people to deal with on the first day, but this happens on every cruise and he should be well enough trained in customer service to be a people person. This incident should never had occurred. The next evening we found that there were 4 other people assigned to our table. One couple who had an even worse story than ours in that the lady having been spoken to so rudely by the Maitre d had in fact collapsed and had to be taken to the medical room. With regard to the restaurant, the food was of high quality and the waiter and his assistants were the most courteous and polite and efficient I have come across in over 20 cruises. The only other hiccup that we could find any fault with was the length of time spent in the ports. Why we had to leave at 4pm in the afternoon at each port, a complete mystery. For example in Panama, the organized trip was very informative but we left the ship at 07.30 and returned at 3.30 for a 4pm sail. We had no time to look round the area. The visit to Limon Puerto Rica was even worse. 2 hours in a bus to the site, 1 hour at the site then 2 hours in a bus back which gave us 10 minutes to look round. It would have been so nice if we could have seen more of the country with a few stops maybe. and again why sail at 4pm. The Royal Caribbean ship in the port at the same time did not leave until 6pm. The trip in Belize was exceptional other than the fact the small boat we were going up the river on ran out of fuel and caused us a 1 hour delay so some of the widlife was rushed and we did not see all the animals we though we would. But at least we did see a lot of Belize. Entertainment. This was of the highest class and we felt that the cast thoroughly enjoyed there jobs and were giving us the best they could. Silly point. I felt that the cruise line were not giving value for money in the bingo. $20 for 3 tickets to win only $500. Considering there were over 200 people playing that is a profit of $9,500 each evening. More money should have been given in prizes. To end. This cruise overall was the best we have been on in 20 cruises. I would highly recommend the Cruise line, the ship and the ports to anyone. Stephen.
