My husband and I had been on 4 cruises before this one. We loved cruising and loved the service we got on board. On past RC cruises, the cabin steward cleaned our room many times a day...it seemed like they came in every time we left to straighten up and change the towels. The waiter knew our name and knew I didn't drink coffee, so a coffee cup was never even at my place at the table. The pool attendants cleaned up regularly, etc. The waiter offered many options at dinner and even some small-talk about himself or what we did during the day. This trip, we saw a huge decline in service.
The service was fine. It certainly wasn't bad. But, it wasn't as high as it was in the past. The waiter didn't know our names. He never smiled. He seemed like we were interrupting him when we called him over for a question. He never offered to do anything extra for us. We were travelling this time with 2 young children. They accommodated our needs, at our request. But, they never suggested or went out of their way for us. Again, it was fine...what you'd get at a restaurant at home. But,we just expected more personal service, based on our past cruise experiences.
The pool always was out of clean towels. Attendants rarely went through and picked up used towels that were tossed onto empty chairs. On the days at sea, the pool chairs fill up very quickly. It's hard to find a spot. I suggest you go up early and try to reserve some chairs for your group. They have a sign that says "no reserving of deck chairs" but they don't seem to enforce it.
