Our cruise left on Valentine's Day so we were calling it the Love Boat Cruise. San Diego may have the easiest embarkation process in the world. Everyone who posts on here says that and it is true. Very easy. Very smooth. We went to Old Town for breakfast and then came back to board. The muster drill was over in 4 minutes and we were all free to go watch the ship leave town. It was great! I have to confess that I have read alot on this website about the ship being old and the food being marginal and staff not so friendly, etc. etc. I did not find any of that to be true. We had a group of 16 adults. Everyone thought the ship was nice. The food was good. The crew were extremely polite. The workout facilities were nice and there were lots of machines. More than I expected. They had several different classes. There are two sauna's, a dry heat and a steam heat. They also had a walk to raise money for breast cancer research one morning on the jogging track. The showers in the work-out area are much larger than the cabins. The view from a treadmill is priceless. The casino had lots of tables. Blackjack, Let It Ride, 3 Card Poker, Electronic Texas Hold 'Em, Roulette, Craps, maybe more but thats what I remember. Lots of slots. Stuart from Australia was the CD and he was alot of fun. He did a good job of keeping people informed and interested. We actually enjoyed him coming over the PA because he had a cool accent. He was funny. The inside cabins were much larger than I expected. Very nice actually. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were adequate. There was lots of storage. A large closet, an armoire, 4 drawers in the make-up table, our huge suitcases fit under the beds, and there was a end table at the end of the bed the opened for additional storage. I couldn't believe all of the room in a lower class cabin. I said the food was good and it was. The dinners were actually very good. Really good! I gained 7 pounds! Breakfast was ok. I don't like moist scrambled eggs and they were very moist (kind of runny) but I just found something else. I never made it to the omelet bar because the line was too long. We only had lunch one day and it was very good. There were several sushi options at the sushi bar and it was good. The pizza bar was fine. Ice cream was popular too. There were lots of activities. We played the Amazing Race game and took a dance class. Played Bingo one day. Did several other things. They had High Tea at 3:30pm on the Sea Days. Crumpets were great! We went to several shows. The regular shows were kind of cheesy but we liked them. The comedian was pretty funny. The hypnotist was killer. Our whole group laughed so hard. Everyone is still talking about it. He did a family show one night and then an R rated version the next. It wasn't real dirty but it was hilarious!!! Don't miss this guy. We did a fishing excursion on our own in Cabo and had a lot of fun. Saw dozens of whales. We did massages in Ensenada and the blowhole. It was worth the $15 per person ride. Warning, if you go to Papas & Beer in Ensenada don't let the guy with the whistle sneak up behind your wife. She will lose her shirt and get a bumper sticker! Both ports were fun. We were on a 5 day cruise. It was alot of fun and very relaxing. If you can't have fun on this ship then I don't think you are meant to be a cruiser. On the final day, one of our friends found out that their baby was in the hospital. The purser's desk told them to make as many calls home as they needed too and for as long as they wanted and the charges would be waived. I thought that was very classy. They didn't have to do that but I know it helped make a difficult situation easier. That is the kind of company you want to travel with. Debarkation was also very easy. We were off the ship, found our luggage, cleared customs, and in a taxi within about 20 minutes of the process starting. Everything about this cruise was easy...and FUN!!!!!!!
