Pre-Cruise- We flew out of Buffalo (we're Canadian, and flying across the border is way cheaper than out of Toronto.) I didn't want to pay an exorbitant price for my pre-cruise stay so I went on hotwire and bid on three star. I got the Hotel Miramar which was a lovely quaint little hotel in downtown San Juan. It was beside an ancient church which I took a million photo's of. The cab ride from airport to hotel was 20 dollars.
Embarkation- We took a cab from the hotel to the pier for 16 dollars, and handed our luggage in to the people on the pier. After giving a few dollars for a tip, we decided to go explore Old San Juan. There were tons of tours, but I preferred to go on foot. I am so glad I did. We explored the streets, ate some amazing local food (Charros?) and stumbled across hundreds of bikers who were protesting the increase of fees for a motorcycle license. The people were so friendly, and I felt very safe there with my children. At about 1:30 we headed back to the ship and walked straight on with no difficulties. We went to our room on the 9th floor (LIDO ROOMS ROCK!!) and checked out our very spacious quad.
