This was our third cruise and my first with Royal Caribbean. As scuba divers we wanted a cruise that visited Roatan as the diving there is spectacular. We booked an oceanview guarantee online with free gratuities. About three weeks before departure we were assigned a standard oceanview room on deck two all the way towards the stern. I called the agent to get a room closer to mid-ships and they moved us without a hassle to an identical room on deck 2.

We flew into Intercontinental Airport the day before and stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott. I arranged for transfers through Galveston Limousine Service and we took the hotel shuttle back to the airport in the morning for our pick-up. We saved $10 roundtrip per person by booking directly with them as opposed to buying the transfers through the cruise line. The ride down to Galveston was just under 90 minutes. Half the riders were dropped off at the Carnival Conquest before we were taken to the terminal for Voyager. Porter's were available curbside and we checked our bags to our cabin. At 1230 we were entered the security line and we were on board looking for our stateroom just before one. The check-in process was painless and fast.

Having been on Carnival's Imagination a few years back and Louis Cruise Line's Emerald in Greece just last year, Voyager of the Seas was a sight to behold. We made our way down to deck two and found our room with ease. We were a little worried when we entered the corridor to our stateroom as there was a lingering diesel type odor. We were relieved that our room was odor free but the odor in the corridor remained for the duration. The condition of our room was excellent and the new bedding was very comfortable. As mentioned in another review, the sliding shower doors are a huge improvement to the curtains found on other ships. Since our bags hadn't been delivered, we made our way to the Windjammer for lunch and then spent the next few hours exploring the ship. We also called Portofino's and made a reservation for Wednesday night. Our bags were in our room by 3pm and we unpacked immediately. For the size of the room we had plenty of shelf and closet space. We stored our bags under the bed.
