Sail Date: Feb 2008

We sailed on the Destiny on February 3 for our fortieth wedding Anniversary and our first ever cruise.

Our pre-cruise night stay was as the Best Western at the San Juan airport. That was lucky as our flights were all delayed and we got in late and were happy to be at our hotel which was right next to the luggage claim.

Next day we went to the Carnival Pier and used VIP check as part of our Category 11 booking. Boarding was smooth but we could not get into our stateroom until 2:30. We were upgraded to Category 12 which was one of the 8 "penthouse" staterooms on board. I guess we are now spoiled for all future cruises. The room was big, spacious, and had a 20 foot long balcony. I guess about as nice as you can want in a stateroom. We had a King Size bed, two nightstands, dressing room with sink, full bathroom with whirlpool and great shower. We had a full size couch/sectional small table and two easy chairs. There was storage and closet room galore. Most of the walls are mirrored so it looks even bigger. If you have the opportunity and think cruising has to be cramped, you have got to try this category of room.
