My wife and I flew to Miami from Newark on the day of the cruise without a hitch. This being our 5th cruise (3rd with NCL)we pretty much have it down to a science. Caught a cab to the cruise dock and were on board in 15 minutes. Had lunch in the Seven Seas and then checked out our cabin. We booked an aft mini suite, and it was very roomy, with a large bathroom with a sitting room for doing make-up etc. (wife loved that)! Noticed the cabin was a little worn looking, stained and faded carpet, frayed upholstery and chipped and worn furniture. Met our room steward Roberto, he was very good at keeping everything clean and filled up and keeping out of sight.
Noticed that there were these black things on out balcony floor and chairs. These things some the size of a silver dollar where hunks of soot from the exhaust stack. Now I know how the carpet got stained.
The included food aboard the Sun is just ok. We noticed that the choices and quality have gone down since our Sun More
cruise last year. Also the hours in which the various venues are open have been scaled back. The supplemental restaurants (we went to all of them) were good to very good. Service throughout the ship was better then our last Sun cruise.
The ports of call have all been reviewed by other members, and are accurate for the most part, so read those.
The shows were the same as last year, ok if you can tolerate crowds, and constant drink hawking. The comedian shows in Dazzles Disco were SRO and not worth the jostling and maneuvering just to catch a glimpse of the action. Can't they move these shows to a bigger arena??
All in all it was a nice time on the Sun. The weather was great with only 1 or 2 showers that were brief. Met lots of fellow C.C. members, as the roll call for this cruise was like 140 members.
We chose early debarkation because of our rather early flight home. Went down the gang plank through customs and was in the airport in 30 minutes. Less
