My husband and I had not been on a vacation together, without children, since our honeymoon 8 years ago. This was my first cruise, but the 2nd for my husband. We decided to do the cruise to celebrate our 30th birthday's. We flew into Tampa's airport on the morning of the cruise and arrived at the port around 1:45. We handed over our bags at the curb and then proceeded to check in. The check in process was very easy, as I had previously completed all of the paperwork online. The check in process took about 15 minutes total. When we checked in we were told that our room was ready so we proceeded directly to our room. We proceeded directly to our room. We had an internal, basic room, on the Upper Deck. The room was very clean and to my surprise, rather roomy. Neither my husband nor I are very big people so there was plenty of room for us to move around. Apparently, the rooms have recently been redecorated. The bathroom fixtures appeared very new and clean, as did the furniture in the bedroom. We dropped off our carry on bags and then proceeded up to the Lido Deck for lunch. By the time we returned from lunch, about 3:30 our bags had been delivered to our door. We chose to eat dinner each night in the main dining room, the Mardi Gras room. The food was very good, and there was great selection. Every night there was a choice of a steak, seafood, and chicken. The desserts were all very yummy - my husband particularly liked the Chocolate Melting Cake. We enjoy drinking wine so we purchased a bottle of wine, from the dining room wine list, each evening at dinner. The selection of wines was OK, nothing spectacular. The prices were decent - we never spent over $30.00 on a bottle. The best part is, if you don't finish your wine they will re-cork it and have it for you the next evening at dinner. The theme of our trip was RELAXATION, so we spent our days outside. On the first day at sea we decided to visit the Serenity Deck, which is on the very back of the boat. This is the best kept secret on the boat. This deck is for guests 21 years or older. There are 2 whirlpools there and lounge chairs with nice cushions on them. They play tranquil music all day - it is a true paradise. The view is directly off the back of the boat, all you see is ocean. The only negative, is that the Bar Staff does not visit the area very often. The Serenity Deck is not easy to find, so unless you are looking for it, you will not stumble upon it. In Cozumel we did the Playa Mia Deluxe excursion. A bus picked us up at port and took us directly to the beach club. We spent the day on the beach with an open bar and buffet. We were able to kayak, use paddle boats and swim at our leisure. We then proceeded to Senor Frogs for the afternoon. That is about all I remember about that experience (wink wink, nod, nod). The one negative that I found was involving our room. Our room had an adjoining door to the room next door. The couple next to us were smokers and we are not. They would smoke in their cabin and it would seep through the adjoining door into our room. When we spoke to our steward about it they said that smoking was allowed in cabins, which surprised me. As a fix they put masking tape on the adjoining door to try and stop the smoke from seeping in. It did not work. I do not recall being asked if I wanted a smoking or non-smoking room. My assumption was that all cabins were non-smoking. We chose to do the self-assist disembarkment procedure. It was quick and easy. We were off the boat by 7:40 am. The trip was fabulous. I would definitely recommend cruising and I will certainly be doing it again in the future. It was a wonderful, relaxing experience.
