We found this cruise in an e-mail from NCL. It seemed quite inexpensive and we were looking at a needed getaway. We have cruised with NCL in the past and enjoyed it. We have also cruised on Princess, HAL, Clipper, Oceania, RCL. Overall quite a nice cruise.

Positives: Cheap, Really nice room, quiet, beautiful ship, Food was quite good. Freestyle dining worked very well for us--the longest wait--even with specifically requesting a table for 2 was about 20 minutes and we spent the time in the pub with some wine and the hostess came and got us when it was our turn. We tried the Aqua and Versailles dining and both were good. The steak house ($20 per person surcharge) was outstanding and the Italian restaurant (no surcharge) was also very good.

Negatives: There was an outbreak of Norwalk Virus the cruise before ours. We had no problems but got tired of the captains daily lecture (via the PA system) about hand washing and avoiding "public accidents" (we never saw any of these accidents). On the other hand, we had no illnesses during the cruise. This also meant that the buffet restaurant had a server for each dish. Unfortunately, it also means you had to wait on line for someone to serve you--even for water. I would have appreciated a port talk that involved something other than shopping. 5 minutes of the ship docks here and it is a $5 cab ride into town would have been helpful. If you did not want to do a shore excursion and just wanted to go to the beach, no one on board seemed to know what beaches were good, which were not, and how to get there. Even when asking on board about some of the landmark sites, if they weren't on the tour, there was no information. To be fair, there was a printed page on the back of the ports "shopping guide" that talked about the history and had the location of the post office. Info such as where is an internet cafe, church, festival, etc. were unknown.
