OK so regular family here who put up quite a bit of money for the cruise and the time we spent ad WDW and were continually disappointed on the Disney Wonder. To start things off the ship is smaller than you run of the mill "New" ship in many others fleets and feels it - ceilings on most decks are a little over 7 feet and I am 6'2 so you get to see a lot of ceiling. The ship is showing its age and both of the rooms we were provided had both mechanical issues as well as general maint problems. Broken light, rusting fixtures, sink filled with grey water when the ship disembarks (Let me tell ya that's gross!), we had large scratches in the walls and the carpets and furnishings were very worn - Think Motel 6 or 8 when you imaging the ambiance of the stateroom. The food was beyond bad and I kept wondering why our server always brought extra dishes that we didn't order - well it was because he wanted to see us eat and not be upset about the food. Kids food was also bad - my 8 year old son tried everything on the menu but to no avail - we ended up having him eat bread, chocolate milk and some steak scraps for diner. The kids programs are what you find everywhere else nothing special, they simply brand the activities - instead of making volcanos your 8 year old will make flubber, instead of a pirate night with costumes and face painting its "Pirates IN the Caribbean" the staff is nice and we had no issues there but the programs were uninspired they simply tried to keep them moving with no activities taking longer than about 45 minutes before "Transition" which is relocating on the ship to somewhere new. I cannot catalog all the deficiencies we experienced but we feel majorly burned by Disney. I think the positive reviews you see and hear about are from people who have not cruised on other lines or simply have very different expectations. One redeeming items is Castaway Cay - if there is any other line that went there I would book that for the future. I hope this is not going to ruin someones already booked trip but I would hope this review would keep you from booking with Disney and go to the other lines who seem so much better at sea - what Disney does in its parks it cannot seem to replicate at sea - or maybe it just doesn't translate as well as they thought or hoped
