After reading some previous reviews, we were a bit apprehensive about the Century. Unnecessary fears. The overall cruise experience was GREAT.
Boarding and disembarkation. We arrived at the ship at 2:25 PM and were in our cabin at 2:40 PM. Unlike a gentleman who wrote a previous review, we were greeted with a glass of champagne and immediately shown to our cabin by a very friendly staff member. He also took our carry ons. Our cabin stewart, Rey, introduced himself to us before we even closed the cabin door, and asked if there was anything we needed. The new option of an early disembarkation by taking your own luggage of the ship worked perfectly for us. We took our 2 rolling suit cases and 2 carry ons and walked off the ship at 6:40 AM. Unfortunately,we did not land at the same pier gate as we left from. Since we had used the parking building across from the embarkation gate, this resulted in quite a walk. As far as we could see, there was no kind of transportation available. We asked a taxi waiting for disembarking passengers but he told us that we wouldn't find any cab willing to give up his spot for a short trip down the pier.
The Ship Previous reviews spoke of dirty and worn carpeting, rust spots, dirty bathrooms, etc. I guess they did a quick clean-up because we saw none of that. Our cabin was perfectly clean and was kept that way by Rey throughout the cruise. The public rooms were spotless. The fitness center was the finest we've seen at sea (This was our 16th cruise). The dining room was beautiful and roomy. There was sufficient space between tables so that you never felt crowded. there was plenty of room around the ship for rest and relaxation. We never encountered any space that wasn't keep clean and shiny. The entertainment area was easily accessible and very attractive.
