Ship Facts: Explorer of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Explorer of the Seas Deck Plans
Excellent Cruise
The cruise was superb! Embarkation: This was a breeze!. We arrived at the dock at 11:30am and we were on the boat within the hour. We received our luggage no problem, and were free to enjoy the rest of our vacation without any problems.

Service: The service on this ship was great. The staff was really friendly, and we did not have any problems. Our waiter gave us everything we asked for, and the food was really good.

Amenities: We were in a cabin with a balcony. We always get one of these because we like to watch the sunrise and sunsets from our room. The cabins were comfortable with Plenty of room for all or our luggage, cloths and shoes.

Excursions: This the reason I wanted to join Cruise Critic and write a review. I have used this site to look for Shore excursions, or advice from others on what to do at certain stops and I have found it very helpful.

St. Maarten...we took the advice of other members at Cruise critic and took the water taxi to the back bay beach. This was an excellent idea...it left you right at the entrance to a few beaches and some shopping. We really enjoyed this stop. There were beach chairs and umbrellas right there to rent, and the locals were more than helpful. I recommend doing this on you own, you do not need the ship excursion at this stop to have a great day.

Antigua: We took a tour of the island with a group of 6, and were dropped off at Long bay beach. This was a beautiful beach with chairs and umbrellas for rent. There is a food stand right there at the beach with restrooms and changing facilities...very convenient. Again, we did this on our own. We got off the ship, went right to the taxi stand, told them where we wanted to go, and waited for them to find other people to join us. 2 other couples agreed to the island tour at $20 a person. We thought this was very reasonable. The driver's name was Rupert Baptiste...he goes by Baptiste. His taxi is # 863. He was an excellent tour guide. He showed us the sites, dropped us at the beach and Came back at the time we had decided on. we didn't have to pay him until we were dropped safely back at the ship. I highly recommend him....phone # (268) 780-1818. Long bay beach was fantastic....

Dominica: We took a ship sponsored excursion and let me just say it was the BEST, most amazing thing we have EVER done!!!!! I cannot rave enough about our experience. We did the river hike to Sari Sari falls. The book said it is strenuous with some uneven terrain..this was the understatement of the year! it was a 1 mile hike down the mountain, through the rain forest, across the river 3 times and up the other side of the mountain. This excursion is not for the weak or lazy...it was alot of work but sooooo worth the journey. The result of all the hiking and climbing and crawling through the jung was the most beautiful waterfall i have ever seen. You are literally in paradise when you finally arrive. We were able to swim at the bottom of the waterfall and let me tell you, i will never forget it. It was the experience of a lifetime!!!! I highly, highly recommend this excursion, but once again..it is HARD. Our tour guide was Alvin and he really took good care of us. At one point he has to pick you up through these two rocks to get you to the destination...amazing. Definitely wear your bathing suite under your cloths as you will want to take that swim i wrote about. do not wear regular sneakers. Wear rubber soled water shoes because you are walking across the river a few times, and through the mud. They are all you will need for this excursion. If you are up to the task, and want to see truly untouched nature this is the excursion for you. By the way, Alvin does the whole hike barefoot!!!! Amazing!!!!

St. Kitts: we did a catamaran cruse. very nice, what you would expect. The people were good to us, and the chicken fingers were quite tasty.

Great Cruise out of NJ. We recommend this cruise to anyone.
