Although this is my first review I am an experienced cruiser having been on an average of 3 cruises a year for the last 6 years. I have had good and bad experiences in the past but I have finally been moved to do a review in the hope that Royal Caribbean will never force a customer to suffer through what we experienced. We usually reserve the owners suite not because we are super wealthy but because we like our comfort. The lines for the ship were manageable and we had priority boarding because we had a owners suite so we were on board in minutes. Once aboard we made our way to our cabin and we were very impressed by the layout and the roomy interior. This was short lived when we opened the door to the bathroom. We were nearly overpowered by the sewer like stench that welcomed us. The room steward happened to show up at the same time and he was obviously aware of the problem because he apologized before we even mentioned it to him. To his credit he had someone up looking at it within 10 minutes and all was well until we returned to the cabin after dinner that night and the stench had returned. We got around it by keeping the door to the bathroom closed and the crew "treated" it on a daily basis. On the second day the steward left a bottle of air freshener with a note saying "please use it" attached. It was obvious it would not be fixed. The crew did go overboard trying to make us happy but it is just unacceptable that any cruiser should have to endure this offensive odor throughout the cruise. Overall the cruise was enjoyable. Coco Cay had to be cancelled because of rough surf but the overnight in Nassau compensated for that. We requested late seating but got early and it appears that a large majority of cruisers had the same problem with dinner arrangements because we heard many complaints. The ship is smaller than we are used to and at 3 nights it is way too short but we wanted to be home for the holidays. I am pretty vocal and to compensate us for the problems we had the cruise line has promised us a discount on our next cruise. Would I cruise on this ship again. Unlikely but I will go on Royal Caribbean again.
