This was our 3rd cruise on NCL (twice on the Sun and now the Star). Love the freestyle concept. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smooth. The Star is a beautiful and well maintained ship. Market Cafe OK for Breakfast and Lunch. Ate at Cagney's once. Food and Service were excellent. Endless Summer was also very good. Blue Lagoon's Fish & Chips were a disappointment, especially after hearing good reviews of it. Our favorite was the Aqua although Versailles was prettier. The food was the same in both main dining rooms. Service was outstanding everywhere on the ship. Garry, our room steward was excellent and very funny. he called me Michael Douglas. Guess that was his way of remembering names, associating the first name with a movie star. He always remembered all our names. Our midship balcony room on the 10th deck was clean and very sufficient, the only way to go. Can't believe people complain about the food or service. The ship's crew works very hard to provide a great cruising experience for its guests. The only problem we seen was with some of the other passengers who would gripe for little or no reason at a server. Don't know how the crew puts up with some of them. Don't think I would have the patience. I would tell them where to get off the boat. Most passengers were fine, there are always those few who think they are special. The entertainment was excellent, especially the ventriloquist. AS christians, we did not partake in alcoholic beverages, except for several large Stella's on tap at the red Lion Pub, and a bucket or two of beers at the Bier Garten, and a few drinks at the Latitude party, casino, and just a few more at the Java Cafe while listening to the very good Melodics. May have had a few more along the way but lost count. Prices weren't all that much more than any other restaurant and the large Stella tap at the Red Lion was a real bargain. This is vacation and no one is drinking and driving so have fun and don't be so cheap. Will definitely cruise again with NCL. Next, Hawaii or New England.

Of the 4 ports, Acapulco was our least favorite. We got a driver to take us anywhere we wanted to go for $25 per person. There were 5 of us and he had a Suburban so we had plenty of room. Went to the Hard Rock to buy a glass and Senor Frog's. Toured the Flamingo hotel (worth it for the view) and went near the cliff divers but didn't stay as the show wasn't for another half hour and no one was that interested. I had seen them once before while serving in the Navy. We had the driver stop at a local craft market and got some beautiful Mexican Christmas ornaments for $2.00 for a dozen. What a deal! Traffic was really bad most of the time and most of the areas were slums although some areas were really exclusive.

Zihuatenejo was really a great place to just walk around. Just walk from the Tender pier to anywhere in town. No need to book a tour here. Bought some local coffee beans and the coffee is great. jewelry was cheaper here that the other ports. Very nice place.
