Arrived at the Port at 11:00am as we have on every other cruise only to be told we wouldn't board until 11:30, That became noon, then 12:15, then 12:30...finally at 1:30 we did board. There had been 3, thats 3, cases of Novovirus, not an entire infected ship as posted. Other posters have said there were not enough seats in the pre boarding area, I did not see one person without a seat and water was plentiful. Annoying yes, but hey, at least they were disinfecting the ship and taking all necessary precautions, had they done anything less people would be complaining about that too. We went straight to our stateroom and it was ready even though they always say they are not ready before 2:00pm. Again, other posters have complained that they couldn't get into their rooms, however, it clearly states in your documents that they are not ready before then so this should not surprise anyone. Having said that, on 10 cruises we have always found the room ready, we do not wait for the announcement, we board the ship and go straight to the stateroom. We were surprised at the amount of room in our suite,(#1073 penthouse deck) it was easily the largest stateroom we have ever had. I always over pack but was unable to fill the closet or the drawers. The bathroom was also a nice size and I loved the bathtub although the jets did not work. The balcony was huge, about 150 sq feet. We enjoyed breakfast out there every morning, we ordered from room service and it was promptly delivered at the requested time, he would put a table cloth on the table and arrange the food beautifully. The butler was an added bonus, I will admit though, I could not really think of anything for him to do other than bring our room service food and deliver our newly laundered clothes. We got a big kick out of the personalized stationary and business cards, as will all the friends we sent letters to. The butler brought tea service (coffee, tea, pastries and finger sandwiches)everyday about 3:00pm, and about 5:00 he would arrive with Canapes, those were horrible. Food was excellent in the main dining room, I especially enjoyed the beef dishes, maybe I'm just not a fussy eater where others hated the food I loved it. The first night was a disaster, the waiter and his assistant were new, they were disorganized, the bar server was racing around but never got anywhere, especially to us, but after that first evening the service was excellent. Now the specialty restaurant Muranos is another story, we prepaid $130.00 for the pleasure of eating at this "gourmet" restaurant. YUCK! The Maitre De gave me the creeps, he reminded me of Dracula with his slicked back hair, fake smile and tailed tuxedo. If your into pretenses and snobbery this may be the place for you. Very intimate(small), the filet mignon was extremely tender but had no taste whatsoever, the lobster salad was god awful, I literally choked the fist bite down then asked them to remove the plate. The next dish was equally bad,(no idea what they called it) at that point dracula apologized saying he felt guilty. The chocolate souffle was the best I've ever had, we didn't want the bottle of champagne(although had I been drunk I may have gotten a kick out of it all) so they gave us a cookbook in lieu of. I could not wait to get out of there and spent the rest of the evening wondering what I missed in the dining room. The ship is not in a state of disrepair as I've also read elsewhere, considering it's age I thought it looked remarkably beautiful. Everyone was very friendly, I don't think I ever passed anyone whether a waiter, officer, cabin steward who did not smile and say hello. They allow smoking in the Cova Cafe so I avoided that area, I don't believe they should allow smoking indoors anywhere, let alone on a small ship. The express disembarking was fabulous, we were off the ship and through customs with our luggage in hand at 6:50am, in a taxi and at our hotel at 7:15am. Check in as with any hotel is 3:00pm or so, they actually gave us our room immediately. (Four Point Sheraton, Miami Beach, Collins Ave.) On a side note, the last poster in this forum hoped that Celebrity would replace all the clothing that was damaged due to the bleach that was used to disinfect the ship. No worries, the Disinfectant although has a bleach base will not harm your clothing in any way. All in all a very enjoyable vacation, some glitches, absolutely, having travelled on all major cruise lines there is always something. We will definitely sail on Century again.
