I must say that our trip was fantastic and we had a great time. The ship is clean and neat, and all pictures you see on the internet are accurate. The food is a great value, but not excellent. I have noticed that the more you pay for your cruise, the more you expect. Our price was very fair, and we got our money's worth, and then some! Here is my review. We flew the redeye to Rome on November 19. Using the hotel that was recommended by cruiselocators.com, we stayed at the Cicerone Hotel. Pricey but it was near the Vatican and we really liked having the Royal Caribbean tour personnel there each day. They are nice and the hotel has a fantastic breakfast each morning, and a good restaurant is right across the street. It was quite chilly in mid-November so we walked around in hat, coat and gloves. Be yourself and have fun, just do not forget to bring your money belt or neck wallet. We used them and I left my purse at home. All I carried was some Euros and a credit card. I left my passport and cash in the hotel safe, and kept a comb in my pocket. On Friday we took the morning tour of the Vatican Museum that included the trip to the port of Civitavecchia. The tour was great and the tour guide gave us a great tip to buy a cross pendant at a store near the Vatican that was designed by Pope John Paul II. I bought 2 for 18 Euros each. This item is not available anywhere else, and it looks great combined with other necklaces. The trip to the port took 90 minutes and we were onboard quickly and efficiently. Our luggage did not arrive in our room till after 5pm but we had fun eating and touring the ship. We never got any luggage tags from Royal Caribbean, so we were most concerned when we were told to leave our luggage in the hallway with "handmade" luggage tags by us. But all was well and our luggage arrived at the ship safely. Each evening we ate in the dining room and had a great table with 6 Americans, 2 Brits and one Australian couple. It was a lively mix each night. Our waiter was from Chile, and our Assistant waiter was from Jamaica. They were so nice and the waiter's recommendations were always spot on. Day two we landed in the bay of Naples. We took the most expensive tour of Pompeii and the Isle of Capri given by the cruise ship. My advice is this, don't be penny wise and pound foolish. If this is your big trip to Europe, spent the extra money and let them show you their country. We were at Pompeii right before it opened and saw much more than I thought we could. We moved onto Sorrento and had a great lunch at a local hotel. It was fun sitting with our tour group eating and drinking wine. The afternoon trip to Capri was nice but I was disappointed as the season was over and most of the stores were closed. The next day was at sea. We enjoyed spending the day relaxing. The only time I felt any kind of motion from the ship was as we traveled around the boot of Italy. Really, it was fine and we wear the seasick patch behind our ear. Day three we landed in Dubrovnik. We took no tour; we just paid the bus fare walked around. It is as nice as they say, walk up, up, up....you can't get lost. Just be careful as the steps can be slippery. Back on the cruise ship we enjoyed breakfast each morning in our room. We always give 2 Euros to the person who delivers room service. One thing I really liked about our ship was they have a room off the buffet that has 24 hour coffee/tea/hot chocolate. It is nice because you don't have to disturb the buffet staff as they get ready for the next meal. Day four we landed in Corfu, Greece. We once again just took the tour bus to the old town and we bought some great souvenirs and walked through the old fort. Once again we traveled around the boot of Italy and I did feel the ship move. No sea sickness. Here is my only complaint. We were passing Stromboli in the daytime and no announcement came over the PA. I was a bit surprised as seeing the volcano smoking was one of the highlights of the trip! Most of the passengers had no idea we were sailing past it. Not cool, if they can do daily announcements for something as droll as bingo, they should tell the passengers if we pass a volcano! Day five we landed in Florence. We took a great tour of Pisa and Florence. Get that picture of yourself trying to push the leaning tower over....what fun! The next day we took the tour of Eze, Monaco and Monte Carlo. They did not tell us that a ticket into the casino was included, and that fancy dress is only required after dark. You have to have your passport and sign in to gamble. We left our passports locked in our cruiseship safe. Once again, not enough information for me. But, we had a very pleasant lunch at the restaurant next to the casino that was very French. Loved that. Eze and Monaco were fantastic and clean, clean, clean! The next day we headed for Toulon. We took the Van Gogh Tour to Arles and then on to Le Baux, the tour was worth every penny. As the tour walked through Arles I popped into a French bakery and asked the lady behind the counter......"got any French bread?" she did not skip a beat and said, "Baguette?"..............I said "Yes, thank you!" and she sold me a WARM baguette wrapped in paper for less than half a Euro! It was mouth watering delicious and she was so nice to me. It was like that everywhere we went, good kind folk. The last day we landed in Barcelona. I thought debarkation went quickly. We were registered at the Hotel Majestic. We got there so early we had the free breakfast that morning and they let us into our room. The hotel was very pricey but that breakfast was so delicious! That afternoon we took the "Artistic tour of Barcelona" that took us to all the Gaudi sites and the Picasso Museum. To wrap up I loved the entire trip. We were in room 3121 in the cruise ship. It was close to everything. We really enjoyed the miniature golf, the rock climbing wall, the exercise room and the Spanish language class. Relax and have fun. In mid November you must take a hat, gloves and a scarf. We had no language problems and we did try to speak the various languages in each country. We would do it again in a heartbeat!
