Ship Facts: Carnival Conquest Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Conquest Deck Plans
Great fun, bad luck!
We were on the Conquest December 9-16. This was our 3rd time on this ship out of galveston.

We got off to a bad start. The ship was late coming in due to heavy fog in Galveston. When we arrived, they told us to go eat lunch and we would receive a $15.00 credit per person to cover the lunch. We were told to come back at 2:00. We were one of the first to arrive. We did stand in a long line and did not get on the ship until 5:15. This was much earlier than most! I think they were still boarding passengers at 9:00 that night.

We did not leave Galveston Sunday. We spent the night on the ship. We were told that we would leave as soon as the fog lifted. We woke up Monday morning and we were still in Galveston with fog worse than the day before! I thought we might be on a cruise to no where! However, around noon Monday we were told we would be leaving!

We did not go to Montego Bay and each person received a $75.00 credit for missing that port. That was fine with us, as we really did not care about

going back to Montego Bay.

We had beautiful weather on Tuesday and Wednesday which were sea days. We were to arrive in Grand Cayman on Thursday but due to a storm heading that way, we were told we would not be going there! Instead, we should be going to Cozumel and Progresso. We love Cozumel and spent the day shopping and hitting some of the bars. We had planned to take the ferry to Playa Del Carmen but since our luck was not going to good, we decided not to.

The next day we were in Progresso. I HATE this place! It is very dirty and there is nothing to do there! And to make matters worse, our bus broke down going back to the ship!

Anyway, to make a long story short, we did have a great time. We have been to these ports several times so we were not that upset. The Conquest staff and crew did everything possible to help make things right for us. They even had an open bar party for an hour and a half on Friday with drinks flowing and music for all.

We had an aft balcony cabin on the Verandah deck with an oversized balcony and we LOVED it! It was great!

I will cruise this ship again. Carnival can not control the weather. My only complaint is that I think they should forget Progresso. Stay another night in Cozumel or even go over to Play Del Carmen. Progresso is a zero port!!!!
