My wife and I age 60 with 26 previous cruises (first on Princess) just got back from 10 day Southern Caribe. It was not the most pleasant of Trips. Visited Aruba,Bonaire,Dominica,Grenada,St. Thomas and Princes Cay. Embarkation: Came in by bus with a group of 40 people arrived about 1:45 pm. Once through security got on ship in 15 minutes. Very Nice. Cabin: Had category BB which was not a very large sized cabin but had a very nice sized balcony. On RCCL same category gets you a sleeper sofa but not on Princess. All complaints are true regarding the bathroom. Take a tip from RCCL's Big ships. A hard shell plastic door instead of those cheesy curtains and you will have a decent size shower. But the dimensions are just about the same. Major problem with the balcony door. This ship gave a very rough ride in moderate seas. Our door would squeak very loudly as the ship would roll and pitch about. Had people in from ship maintenance, they placed wood shims in the doors but to no avail. Many other passengers had the same problem. It looked to me that the rubber gasket was insufficient to stop the noise. The other problem is that the ship pitched and rolled an awful lot, I am not a naval engineer, but if your ship has a twenty eight foot draft, and the ship is 150 feet taller than the water, where do you think the center of gravity is? Other people thought the stabilizers were not working. Who knows. Pools: Pools on the ship were not large and with the way we were rocking and rolling the waves broke worse than in Hawaii. You could only really be in the pool when ship was in port. Here again, people would save chairs and they would remain empty for people wanting to lay out. There is an area in the spa where you can lay out on a nicely padded chair for a 10 dollar per half day charge. Needless to say there were very very few takers. Ports: Having been to all the islands before I will pass on the ports except to say on a few occasions the photographers would hold up hundreds of people trying to get off the ship by try to take each persons picture as they came off the gangway, holding everyone else hostage. Plus the picture prices were very high. Casino: Very small with not a good choice of machines. I did not gamble so it did not matter. My wife enjoyed the penny machines, so her money lasted longer before she lost it. Ship decor: The ship's decor was very nice. A lot of wood paneling and marble (fake or not?) gave a very elegant quality to the look of the ship. The center was quite majestic and on deck 5 there was a variety of music, piano players and a string quartet. It was very soothing to sit and listen to the music. We also go served milk and cookies in the afternoon that was very nice. Tendering: We had to be tendered in Grenada for our trip in, had to wait 1 hour to get off causing all the tours to be late because of how long it took to get off the ship. On the return another princess ship has left port. Our ship parked in that spot and we were able to get on directly. At princess Cay the water was very very rough and the ride was like an E ticket ride at Disneyland. The Island itself was the nicest of all the private Islands with hard surfaces for anyone in a wheel chair or electric scooter. Dining: We had anytime dining, this means that anytime Princess wants to seat you they do. If you wait until about 8pm you can get in without waiting. People coming in around 7 PM would get a beeper like at Outback and might have to wait upwards of 45 minutes. It was apparent to me that there was just not enough staff to handle the amount of people on the ship. Did not use any of the premium restaurants at all. The dining room food quality was ok. The wait staff we did have were very good. They were working their tails off. Buffet: Breakfast was a nightmare. The people who designed this ship should be flogged. There are not enough tables and chairs for the number of people who use it. The omelet line was in the middle of the buffet area and was like trading on the floor of the NYSE once you gave your order you had to hope than when the staff announced the omelette coming out it was yours, there was no way to verify whose order was coming out, no name etc. What was a nice surprise was over easy eggs out for you to take, you did not have to wait for them. Lunch buffet was even worse because more people use it than breakfast and it was always crowded. Finding a seat was difficult at best. The quality of the food was not bad but the hassle was. Disembarkation: Emerald Princess and Caribbean Princess both came in on Sunday 12/16/07. It was the worst bedlam I had ever seen. The ship was not cleared of passengers until 11 AM and when our bus left at 11:30 AM there were hundreds of people still waiting for other buses or lined up for taxis. Tour desk: No Help! No one could answer any questions because no person had taken any of the tours. If you want to be of service to people, get out and sample the tours. + Entertainment:  Entertainment was good, nothing spectacular. However, the princess theater seats 950 there are 3000 plus passengers. Two shows hey c'mon. Extra shows had to be put on so everyone could see a show. How dumb can you be to not have a big enough theater also the seats were not big enough for the average buttocks size that had to go in them. Movies under the stars was very good, especially when they had the football games to watch, that was very enjoyable. Passenger services: At the passenger services desk there were always at least 5 people working. When it was busy more people came out to help, that was a big plus. Overall: I have been very critical in my assessment in the hope that some of the people at Princess monitor theses sites. I cannot tell you how many people said they would never travel on a ship the size of the one we were on. Princess needs to have a larger crew to attend to the number of passengers. They seem to be most lacking in the dining rooms beef up the staff so that anytime means anytime. Again this is my critique, I may try a smaller Princess cruise ship before I say I will never sail on them again. But it is disheartening to be on a new ship that it seems no one thought of the passengers when the ship was designed.
