Notes: Carnival Destiny - Southern Caribbean Dec 2-9, 2007. This was my wife's and my 11th cruise together, 6th with Carnival and 3rd to the Southern Caribbean. We were in a group of 8 people, all with cruise experience. We got to San Juan a day early and stayed at El Canario Inn. It was 99.00 including taxes and was close to everything.

Embarkation: Very easy. We got there at 11:45 and the lines were minimal. The lines move fast as long as you have all your information filled out correctly and have all your documents. It is true about bringing your own booze aboard. Just put it in your carry on, as the port people don't care about it. Make sure you have mix as it is much easier to get liquor then good mixes (I brought some from home). Once aboard, one of the 4 rooms we had was ready so we dumped the rest of the bags inside, locked up and went to the lido deck for some lunch. After lunch we went into Old San Juan and walked around for a few hours. We returned to the ship for dinner around 6pm.

Ship: The condition of the ship was better then most people describe. It looked very clean for it's age. The only problems we had were that our room safe did not work and was not anchored very well. (After 3 requests, this was fixed on day 4). Then the dresser drawers did not work, as they were not lined up correctly. This was never fixed even though we asked many times. I just put the middle drawer in the closet for 7 days so I could use the top and bottom. I bet it's still in there! Also we had a light burn out that was never replaced.
