Ship Facts: Costa Serena Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Costa Serena Deck Plans
Costa Serena.... low cost..at a high price
It is a new ship in good condition. The suite and the butler were wonderful....had breakfast in the room to avoid the huge rude crowds. The food in the restaurant was gourmet for Italians and much worse than Denny's by American standards. The norm was luke warm soup, horse leather beef, Pizza's with almost nothing ...not even sauce or cheese on them. The holy mass was held in a bar with paintings nude women touching each other. Children running around in the casino after midnight was normal. If you like to hear children screaming, this will be a treat.

Drawings on the walls all around the ship were of Romans or Greeks in their birthday suits.

We along with many others on the ship developed a stomach virus and sore throat. This resulted in days of non eating and diarrhea. We believe that it may be the result of the treated sea water that is used for making ice and in food preparation. If you are allergic to sulfur BEWARE. I developed a skin rash. Since they charge 50 Euro for seeing their doctor and then about the same for the gallon of bottled water he prescribes....illness must be a profit center. Otherwise they can give medical care for ship illnesses for free.

The internet service service is in booths that are in a hall way where children play. You may not use, or connect your own computer and must use their extra slow machine which costs 1/2 euro a minute.

When we boarded they took our U.S. passports and told us they would be returned after a copy was made. Another lie, they gave us the copy. Imagine being stopped by police in Morocco or trying to leave a country for medical reasons with a photo copy of your passport. Fortunately a cruise line association attorney was on board and he advised me as to how to pressure the staff to see to it that when I am on land I have a real passport.

If this is your first cruise, you have low expectations and you have very little money to spend on a cruise, you may enjoy it.
