Ship Facts: Norwegian Dawn Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Norwegian Dawn Deck Plans
Norwegian Dawn
We flew in from Cincinnati and arrived in Miami at 11:00. Flight was a straight shot and getting a taxi from the airport was a breeze. We paid 24 bucks for 4 of us.

Embarkation: Hmmm... could have been better to be honest. We had to wait in three different lines. One to get our carry on luggage scanned, second to get through customs, and third to get our sea pass card. I was tired of lines by the time we finally go onto the boat ( About and hour and half).

Cabin: We had a oceanview (according to them they upgraded us from an inside room). The cabins are nice, bathroom had more room than our previous cruise on RCCL. I strongly suggest not booking cabins 4520 or 4522, very very very loud from the nose of the ship slicing up the water.

Dining: The specialty restaurants are worth the pay i can promise you that. We ate at Cagney's twice. The steaks were awesome! Impressions was nice, aqua was Ok, venetian was also par. The one thing i can say that i was not impressed with was the buffet. It truly does stink just like the other posters say. Breakfast is a joke and you get held up in a line waiting for people to get their omelettes. Lunch was decent but dinner and late night dinner was awful. Oh yea, Also they do not serve any type of juice for lunch or dinner, just water and tea.

Entertainment: We went to the magic show. We are not much for going to shows on the boat. We are only in our mid 20's so some of that stuff does not appeal to us.

Service: This was the Dawn's saving grace as far as I'm concerned. The service at every level was tremendous. From the waiters, bar tenders, cabin attendants, room service, front desk who ever it was we received A+++ service.

Ports and Excursions:

Samana: We tendered over to Cayo Levantado through an excursion threw the Dawn. This was great, the island is breath taking. Drinks are not overpriced and the beach is gorgeous. I did not talk to anyone who went on the island of Samana but if you have a chance head over to Cayo Levantado and get your picture taken with a sea lion!

Tortola: We once again booked a excursion over to Virgin Gorda Highlights. This is my second time to Virgin Gorda so i knew what to expect. Breath taking views and climbing over to Devils beach was a blast. Water was great and we were dropped off in down town Roadtown. We took the chance to run through some off their shops and purchased a few things along the way.

St. Thomas- My mother lives in St Thomas, so i have been here also many times. Lots to do, lots to see. Wish we did not have to leave at 3 freakin thirty though. You can find a lot of great things to do in St Thomas, Meagan's Bay, Water Island, St John, shopping whatever you like to do I'm sure you can find it. Just make sure if you are going to do some diving, use Admiralty Dive Center =)I know the owners =)!!!

Nassau- This is what made the trip for us. We did not want to go to Great Stirrup Bug Bite Island. We were so pumped to go to Nassau and see paradise Island/ Atlantis. We bummed around their and then headed over to the straw market for more shopping.

Disembark- We used express since we had a 9:40 flight and we made it in a breeze. Disembarking was a lot faster that RCCL and we were thankful.

Overall: We liked the choices that came with Freestyle cruising but it's not freestyle if you can never make reservations. The ship itself is nice and the customer service is great. The food wasn't nearly as good as some of the other ships we have been on. I guess you get what you pay for. We took NCL for a change of pace to see what other cruise lines are like and have to say we left a little disappointed and prob will not book with them again.
