I read many reviews for the POM, both good and bad. I can say that this ship does not compare to Royal Caribbean or Carnival, even though you are paying the same price. Upon first arrival, we upgraded to a balcony suite. They were very reasonable with the price for the upgrade. When we arrived to our suite, it was dirty. Stains on the bed skirt, crumbs all over the floor, and the bathroom sink was filthy. We asked them to fix a couple of the items, they did 2 out of 4. We did have fresh towels all the time and plenty of toilet paper (I read where people had problems with this). The ship itself was nice. However, the food was not great and the service was ok but you had to wait forever for your food. Also, it is advertised alot to wear anything you want to dining. However, when we got there we found out that there was a dress code. We did not pack for a dress code. We did not prefer the freestyle dining. It makes you believe you can eat whenever you want, but things aren't open when you want to eat. They also did not have alot of events, in case you wanted to stay on the ships and not visit the islands. As for excursions, we did the following:
Hilo - Did Volcano's National park w/ Robert's Hawaii. It was nice and the driver was informative. But, if you want something smaller and more flexibility I would not book this one through them. Next time, I think we would rent a car and do it on our own.
Maui - We did the Road to Hana w/ Valley Isle Excursions. This one was also good and the driver was very informative. This takes up your whole day though. Our second day, we went snorkeling and scuba diving w/ Pride of Maui at Molokini Crater. We picked them because they had both scuba and snorkel. However, they provided no pick up from the ship and you had to pay about $30.00 for a taxi ride there. This was an expensive company, I not would recommend them. Good points are that the food was good and the people were nice.
