My husband and I traveled to the Mexican Rivera for a very relaxing vacation. We have cruised with the Princess line in the past and enjoyed it immensely. We had our choice for this destination on either the Dawn Princess or the Golden Princess. Since we had seen Alaska last year on the Dawn we choose the Golden. Sadly, we wish we had traveled on the Dawn.

We asked for extra pillows in our cabin and were able to get them but were very disappointed when we saw they were about and inch to inch and half thick. Could have used even more! Our bed was very hard and the springs made noise every time we sat or laid down on the bed. Other than the bed and pillows we were very happy with our cabin and our balcony. Our balcony was large enough for 4 chairs and we took advantage of having our friends over for drinks and dolphin watching.

As far as service we were also disappointed. The first night our waiter was so grumpy that we almost opted for balcony room service. He rolled his eyes when we asked for extra rolls and never smiled once. We were lucky the next night to be seated with another waiter who with his helper were great. However, the four of us felt that selling themselves and emphasizing that if we check "excellent" on the comment card given at the end of the cruise would help them out. On past cruises we have tipped very generously and felt it should be our choice on who and what we tip. It almost seemed like phony niceness. That is until the breakfast on the day we left.
