Background Information: Our cruise departed on November 18th, 2007 from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We were aboard the Carnival Liberty for a 6 day cruise around the Caribbean. We were a family of 19 all on the same deck. We travelled to Nassau(Paradise Island), The Bahamas, Grand Cayman(Georgetown), Cayman Islands, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Ship Info: The Carnival Liberty is one of Carnivals newest ships to their Conquest family of ships. It is 952 feet long and weighs over 110,000 tons. My first though when stepping inside the ship during embarkation was,"Wow, this ship is absolutely beautiful." There was a Venetian theme throughout the ship and it was played off very well. The decor and art was so magnificent, it really made the ship stand out. I really enjoyed being aboard this ship because it was so nice. The one problem i found with this ship, compared to others I had been on in the past, is that it was very difficult to navigate around. Not every floor ran the length on the ship, such as the lobby deck and the Atlantic deck. The best way i found to get from one end to the other was to go through the Promenade or the Lido deck. Other then that I enjoyed cruising aboard the Carnival Liberty.
Travel To Port of Embarkation: We live in Fort Lauderdale so we didn't have to travel far to get to the port. Once we exited I-595, we arrived at a HUGE line to just get into the port. It was quite ridiculous how they had to wait inline to check your ID, when they were just going to check it again when we got to the dock. The signs directing the way to each ship, seeing as there were 6 leaving that day, were helpful.
