My wife and I took our 5th wedding anniversary on the Carnival Destiny. We took the Nov 11th Cruise out of Puerto Rico. We've only been on one other cruise (with Princess) for our honeymoon and were looking forward to this cruise. I will say that we were worried about going on Carnival as we had heard many bad things about the type of cruise it would be. Some of my family had gone on Carnival and said it wasn't as bad as we had heard and that they had a good time. We decided to give it a go.

The reason I referenced our ship the Destiny to Wal-Mart was due to the other passengers on the ship. The ship was in good shape and the crew was very good, but the other passengers were rude beyond belief. No one had any concept what a line was and it was all about elbowing your way to the front. Anytime that there were a group of different passengers in one spot, you could expect them to act like savages. It was terrible. Now, I told a couple of people about this and the standard response was, "Well, I heard that there were a lot of Puerto Ricans on the ship..." I respond that I had few problems with anyone from PR and that the biggest (but not only) issue was from a very large group from Chicago. I met a lot of great individuals, but horrible crowds. We still had a great time on our cruise, with just a few exceptions.

For a detailed description of the worst of what happened to us, read the Dominica description.
