My wife and I cruised the Carnival Destiny on October 28-November 4. To give a little background about the type of travelers we are: My wife and I are in our mid-twenties and we have traveled in the Caribbean a few other times, but this was our first cruise. We are very easy going and not fussy, and it is very difficult for us to have a bad time on any type of vacation. I hope that we will paint an objective picture of our experience to help you in your cruise planning.

My Biggest Complaint about this Cruise:

Carnival unloads any leftover space for the cruise to fill the ship to the locals in Puerto Rico. I am very culturally sensitive, but I must say that many of these people were rude, obnoxious, and inconsiderate of all other guests. For example, during the day at sea, my wife and I got back from lunch to find Puerto Ricans sitting in our deck chairs! After a few minutes of standing in front of them, they didn't get the hint and we had to ask them for our chairs back. Consistently, they would crash into you when you were trying to get off of the elevator, cut in front of you when in line, and just yell and scream for no reason. It wasn't just us that thought this, any other person we talked to on the cruise said the same thing. Not only did they pay less than me, by Carnival doing this, it significantly ruined my opinion of Carnival cruise lines. Like I said, we are very easy going and it didn't ruin our trip, but I would be very hesitant to cruise Carnival, especially from out of San Juan.
