To start with, we are two 60 yr olds traveling with our 37 yr old daughter. We usually travel one big cruise in the fall with her and two short ones in the winter and spring by ourselves. We booked into the Hyatt on the Hudson and guaranteed our booking with credit card. When we arrived at about 8PM, they had given away our room and sent us to Sequoias (?) where we did not enjoy the night. No restaurant, swimming pool or gym. A big step down in our estimate. Anyway, the next day we returned to our original hotel and got our room. We traveled into NY to Ground Zero, and then on to the Battery Park and the Statute of Liberty ride. It was really great to see everything. On Sunday night, we met up with several of our cruise critic buddies and had drinks. Monday - Embarkation went very smoothly. We boarded about noon and went up to the 10th deck for lunch. About 12:30 we were in our room and very soon after, our luggage arrived. Dinner mates were very nice and we all enjoyed our evenings there. Every night before dinner, a gang met in the Martini Bar, where I was introduced to my first martini, and second one and so on.... Tuesday - We met with cruise critic members (about 130) about 11:00 AM in the Bar at the End of the Earth and had a gift exchange and everyone met and interacted. John (Cruise Director) was there and he was very funny. Afterwards, we all did a cabin crawl of the various staterooms, ending in our room. After that, we all had lunch together and relaxed the rest of the day in our various ways. Wednesday - We were at Bermuda and everyone went their own way.....and also on Thursday till 3:00 or so. Thursday & Friday were sea days. Friday, we had a party for a lot of the cruise critic members and it passed quickly. Saturday - St Maarten was jewelry shopping day and that night, everyone showed off their finery. Lots of fun, but exhausting. Sunday - another sea day. Monday - Aruba - more running around and shopping. Not as great as St. Maarten, though. Tuesday - Curacao(?) We had booked a cooking tour where we got to actually cook up a Caribbean lunch and eat it, with wine, of course. Wednesday & Thursday were sea days again. During that time we had several get-togethers in various cabins and on Thursday night we got rid of all the extra booze we had acquired during the cruise. BIG PARTY! Friday, of course, they made us get off the ship. We tried to hide in the closet, but the butler swept us out. He He The ship was very clean and everyone was most helpful. The only problem we had was the DVD player in our room did not work the whole time....hopefully they put in a new one by now. We went to a few trivia activities and I took a power point class and a movie making class. Very informative. The Service was excellent - I have no complaints with that. The stateroom was always clean and neat, except when we were dressing. Ha Ha In summary, I can say we had a wonderful time. Debarkation was very easy and we were off by 9:12 and at the airport by 10:00. We happened to see a few of our cc friends there and passed a few minutes with them. On the airplane and off to Nassau, where we spent a nice weekend relaxing. We got home on Sunday night about 5:30 PM and are ready to go again - SOON.
