Background We spent the last 500 days looking forward to our 2 weeks aboard the Caribbean Princess doing a back to back western/eastern Caribbean cruise from October 14 - 28th, 2007. The review is rather lengthy so feel free to skip around. Pictures are available at: http://community.webshots.com/user/sharkie2007

Precruise Our vacation started with a redeye flight aboard American Airlines from San Francisco to Miami. It's worth it to save your miles up to upgrade to first class, especially when flying from coast to coast. Almost immediately after finding our seats we received our pre departure sparkling wine. As this was an overnight flight there wasn't a big meal service, however they did offer warm nuts, a snack of a chicken salad with strawberries and feta or a cheese and fruit plate, pre arrival sparkling water, as well as complimentary cocktails. Flight was uneventful and we actually arrived a little bit early.

Having a Hertz Gold Card, we proceeded to pick up the car in the stall indicated on the gold board, but alas there was no car there. So we woke up the sleeping attendant in the booth (after banging loudly on the glass a few times) who got us on our way. The drive to Fort Lauderdale was short, around 30 minutes or so. We drove around a little before deciding to have breakfast at the Floridian. Huge omelets, but mediocre tasting (and there was a bit of an odor inside the place.) Afterwards we checked out the area including the beaches, Dania Beach, and the area around the hotel we were staying at, the Renaissance on 17th Street. We booked the hotel via Priceline for around $100 about 6 weeks before the cruise - we did have a reservation for Amerisuites through Valuetrips that we made in case weren't successful through Priceline.
