Capt Don and I decided to take a cruise alone - just the two of us! Our only other cruise was the Western Caribbean in April 2007 on the Grand Princess. We flew American out of DFW at 10:00 am and arrived at LAX at 11:15 am. On the advice of a lady at the Ground Transportation area, we went to the San Pedro pier on Prime Shuttle. This worked great and was $16.00 per person. Prime Shuttle dropped us right at the door for check-in and we were on our way. We were through the line and on the boat in about 15 minutes. Couldn't have been easier!

Our cabin was on the Caribe deck (deck 10) in cabin 213. Our balcony was twice the size of the balconies on the 2 decks above us. Half of our balcony was covered and half was open for those above us to see. We had 2 lounge chairs and 2 straight back chairs and a table on our balcony. More than enough room and wonderful for room service breakfast on the balcony! The closet space on the Golden was huge and the bathroom sink and counter was roomier, also! Probably the same size area as on the Grand but arranged differently and better!

We ate at the Horizon Buffet most lunches and a couple of dinners. We ate at the Bernini Restaurant on both formal nights. The food on the first formal night was forgettable since I can't remember it! However, on the second formal night, we had lobster and shrimp and it was fantastic! We sat with other people and had a fun dinner. We didn't go to ANY shows. I still can't believe that we didn't as so many people told us how good the magician and the comedians were. We did spend some time in the Casino playing blackjack and the cards were certainly friendly! We came out ahead in the casino every night we played! There were a few children on this cruise but they were all pretty much at the 2 pools on the Lido deck if they weren't at the kids area. The Golden is a beautiful ship and the service everywhere we went was top notch.
