Background Information We were a group of nine cabins sailing for a family member's 85th birthday. We ranged in age from 4 to 85 years. My husband and I are in our early 30s and we were traveling with our 4 year old son. I want to give as much info from a Mom's perspective as I can since I couldn't find much before we sailed. I also work in the travel industry and have very high expectations when I travel.

Hotel Info We booked the Intercontinental Hotel in the Carolina area through Priceline for a one night prior to the cruise. We booked for $88 (about $112 after taxes/fees). The hotel will charge you a resort fee on-site. The hotel's public areas were acceptable for a resort. The pool is nice with a swim-up pool bar. We ate at Momoyama, the teppanyaki restaurant in the hotel. It was good but costly. The room itself left a lot to be desired. It was very, very tired. However, I did speak with the front desk manager and he said they are renovating the hotel, starting with the top floors. So, if you are staying here make sure to ask for a renovated room! There is a shopping plaza across the street with food and a small grocery. We bought beer here. A Walgreens is down the road a bit if you take a right out of the hotel. They had a nice sand toy basket for $5 that came in handy for our beach day.

Ship Info The Crown Princess is a very large ship. It was fully packed the week we went and at times it did seem crowded. We did find pool chairs easily.
