Went down to Miami a day early and stayed at the Hyatt. It was beautiful and the room was amazing. We have stayed previously at Holiday Inn but they were full. I sure am glad. Holiday Inn cannot even compare to this and its in the same price range and close to the port. Total there were 8 people sailing as friends but in all different categories on the ship.I took my daughter for her 30th birthday and booked a balcony guaranteed cabin. Took a cab to the pier at 11:30 and got right on. No wait at all. I know how it is if you take a shuttle at noon from the hotels...a mess of a line! We had a full breakfast that came with the room at the Hyatt so were not hungry when we boarded. Agreed to meet everyone on deck 12 topsiders bar and that was really nice. The waiters couldn't have been nicer and didn't constantly bug you for a drink. An announcement was made at about 1pm that are cabins were ready. I was surprised at the size of the room and the balcony. Having sailed on RCL and Carnival before this was smaller than them.I didn't like that there was no checking your purchases on the TV. had to go to the desk to have a printout made a few days into the cruise.I never met my cabin steward so cannot comment on that. My other friends had great stewards so I guess it was just bad luck. The rooms were always made up but I would have liked to meet him/her!

Compared to my other cruises I would not do Freestyle again. I could never get a hold of reservations on the phone, which you had to make even with the no charge restaurants, so had to always go to the desk to do it. I did like La Cucina Italian restaurant but it was nothing to write home about. The mexican dinner was ok but I can get better at my local mexican restaurant. I missed not being able to get to know my waiters doing Freestyle and table mates also. I think they try harder for an extra tip when you have the same waiters every night. The main waiter at the mexican place was a snob and never even cracked a smile. It was like we were bothering him. We never did the pay restaurants as we were disappointed enough in the free ones. The buffet was what we did the remainder of the cruise. The ship itself is beautiful but I didn't find many activities to do. I passed on the "making boxes out of paper"..LOL We went by and that's exactly what they were doing..LOL All in all I was a bit disappointed as this was a first cruise for many of my friends and they were not impressed. Saw Freedom of the seas at every port and wished we were on that!! Hung out in the casino a lot and even won some money on the poker machines. The casinos do not even compare to RCL Explorer of the Seas or RCL Mariner. It is small and not many machines or tables in comparison. Did have fun thanks to my friends but will not do Freestyle NCL again.
