This was my wife and my first Transatlantic. This was our 12th Cruise, first on Princess the others RCCL, Carnival, Holland America. Both in our 50's.

Pre Cruise: Flew from Miami to Rome for 2 days prior to cruise. Stayed at the Hotel Alimande right across from Vatican, a little pricey but the room was great, and the breakfast is terrific. Saw the main sites, Coliseum, Forum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Pizza Navona, Pizza Veniza, all by public transportation(bus), easy to get around take the 82 bus will take you every place you want to go. Food was great, buy your wine in grocery stores alot cheaper and house wines are great. Buy the ones without labels. They are the best.

Day of Cruise: Took train to Venice 1st class, took 4 hours. Do not get off at Mestre. Had to drag luggage down 30 steps and then back up another 30 steps. No escalators, no elevators. Had driver meet us there and took us to port. 22 Euros a couple. (3 couples).
