After scheduling my vacation 3 mos in advance I was very excited to be going somewhere and snorkeling as this would be a new adventure for me. I have a very stressful job as a nurse and my husband works 6 days a week. the day before departure at 3pm we got a call and said our ship would be late we could board after 9 pm and we would not be going to Cozumel but to Progresso...my husband and I decided to make the best of it. When we arrived in Galveston we were in line to board for a good two hours the ship did not leave until about 1 am. We booked an excursion at the ship for Progresso at a beach resort, I must say the beach smelled horrible, the food there at the resort was Tostitos, warmed over cheez whiz and the taquitos so hard they could break your tooth, we each paid $75 for this. My husband said we could have saved our money and went to Brownsville. The food aboard the ship was horrible as well and I could not eat it. I know that some things are beyond their control for instance the weather, but I would have never booked that cruise if I knew Progresso would have been our stop. On the way home we hit some 18 ft. swells that had a good majority of the ship in the infirmary where they were giving phenergan injections for $40 a pop. The service was good, we always had our bed made when we left, I tried to complain about our excursion and they gave me a letter to follow up with, I know there were a number of people that did this also. I don't believe I will be sailing Carnival any time soon.
