Sail Date: Oct 2007

We cruised on Voyager of the Seas from Barcelona on Oct. 20, 2007. It was a great experience for our first Mediterranean Cruise. We arrived in Barcelona 2 days early and stayed at the Hotel Continental Palacente. The room was a little smaller than we expected (we are experienced European travelers), but the buffet was a good bargain and the location near the Las Ramblas area was worth the money. Barcelona is an underrated city and I want to make a return trip. There is a lot to see there and you can get around pretty easily.

We had no problems embarking or disembarking the ship. The lines were a little long, but they moved along fairly quickly. This is a good first cruise for the Med because of the length. I wouldn't recommend a longer cruise for first time cruisers if you aren't sure whether you would like it or if you are prone to seasickness.

The food was super on the ship. We made the decision before the trip not to attend the sit down dinners. 1.5 hour dinners aren't our cup of tea. The selections at the Windjammer Buffets were more than we had expected. We were able to "experiment" with some of our selections without any problems. I know I have read reviews about the poor quality of the buffets, but to be quite candid we saw none of that. I probably will not go to sit down dinners on my next European cruise because after a full day in port I just want to relax.
