We boarded the Ecstasy late as it came in with a propulsion issue late into port. We were given a $15 onboard ship credit. Not much but at least the cruise wasn't canceled and we made both ports. I have to say I think Galveston is beautiful all light up at night. The muster drill was smooth to get through and we were on our way. We got to the pier early because that's the way our arrangements were. We ate at the Fisherman's Wharf, not too bad, but something my sister ate, made her a little sick to her stomach. Speaking of stomachs, the seasick ear patches are completely fabulous!!!! I believe in them completely now!
Now back to the trip, the Ecstasy is a beautiful ship and even with the engine issue it was very smooth even when it was storming. I fell in love with this ship! Our room was a penthouse suite and we loved it.. soo much room and lots of convenient cubby holes. The only room complaint- the tub is not made for short people. I'm 5'1" and it was very hard to get in and out of. LOL The staff on board were extremely friendly and this was different from my trip on the Elation where everyone was extremely rude. So it was a welcome change of pace. They were all more than helpful (even if sometimes they didn't seem to be too organized) The whole trip the poor staff seemed to be playing catch up, but they did it very well. We only ate in the dining room once, but the food was terrific and the waitstaff was just so enjoyable, even if they didn't they seemed to really love what they were doing. Beware if you eat at the buffet the plain ol regular scrambled eggs are like egg beaters or something they were really gross. I loved how the changed up the photo gallery, it was crowded but not near as much so as the Elation was.
The ports were great, but we got like two hours I think cut off each. All it really did was cut out shopping time, which for me was great (cut my spending wayyyy down lol) We did the Mayan Reality Tour in Progresso, and I enjoyed it tremendously. We got to see flamingos, some neat mayan ruins and a real mayan family. Our tour guide Yahi was sooo funny, we loved her. I highly recommend this tour.
