After reading several reports from others about the 'aged' Statendam my husband and I were a little nervous about sailing on this older Ship! A lovely welcome with champagne and taken to your stateroom and very easy booking in.
Yes the Ship is older, and shows in several places rust and looks tired in several places, but!! the Ship was very very clean, and continual cleaning took place everywhere. The Captain was very keen on using |purel, which made us more comfortable about NOT getting one of the viruses.
Yes we did encounter (as previous forum members have said)problems with the flushing of the Loo, which unfortunately did not work on many occasions, after phoning the front desk it was soon put right. But this became quite annoying as it happened so often. I believe we were lucky as we had no overflow or anything of that kind. The whole system needs modernizing. At the end of the cruise, we had a very nice surprise of a $200 refund for each person because of the trials with the 'loos'
