Just back today from the Carnival Destiny cruise (10-14 to 10-21. ALERT FOR TRAVELERS: Two of the people in my group had a pipe burst from the pool and flooded their room. Carnival didn't change their rooms, only offered them petit fours and a bottle of champagne. One friend in 6205 had their room flooded, the carpet soaked and the staff kept their room open for several days to dry out. Their belongings were wet, dryers in the hall sucked out the moisture, the A/C was set on super cold, the room smelled like mildew--and later the staff dumped coffee grounds in the carpet--apparently to soak up the smell. So if you are in room 6205 or nearby--BEWARE!

(Our room, 6104 Upper Forward was quite nice, though.)

So briefly, here's a few thoughts for you as you embark on your cruise. You can get to the terminal as early as noon. Buy your booze at the duty free liquor stores on the top floor of the terminal after you get your ship and sail card--but be sure to tuck it in your carry on, or they will hold it for you til the end of the cruise.
