We just returned home from our 7 day Carnival Destiny cruise. We've been on 4 other Carnival cruises and this one ranks at the bottom. This boat was very old. We expected so much more. We had an ocean-view cabin and were at the very back of the ship. Every time we pulled into a port-we were awakened by the violent shaking of the boat trying to manuever into port. On the following Sunday-we were awakened at 4:30 am when we arrived back in Puerto Rico. When we arrived in our cabin we were surprised to see the previous guests hair in our bathroom. It was disgusting. They didn't change our bed linens all week. Our original cabin steward disappeared half-way through the cruise. I"m glad we weren't in our room much! The boat was very crowded. You couldn't get near a pool. It was full of unsupervised brats. Puerto Rico must have a holiday end of Sept., early Oct. because the boat was full of Puerto Rican kids. The best part of our on board cruise was dinner in the dining room. We had an exceptional wait staff of Olivia and Trinidad. All the meals were delicious. Our waitress even brought us things to try we didn't order because she said we couldn't miss trying it. Now, the buffets were a different story. The breakfast buffet was horrible!!!! The New York deli was the best dining choice on lido deck. We never tried the dinner buffet.

The shore excursions were the highlight of our vacation. St. Thomas is gorgeous! We did the 4x4 Jeep Adventure and toured the island. We saw many different things and took some great pics!

Dominica didn't have great excursions. We were supposed to do river tubing but it was cancelled due to high water levels. We went to Emerald Pool. That was nice. Not recommended for anyone not in shape or handicap.
