Carnival Legend - Western Caribbean

Sail Date: September 2007
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Tampa

Just returned from carnival legend 7 night cruise. This is our first cruise and we loved it. Arrived in Tampa about 11am and when we arrived on the boat, were able to get right on. Check in was very fast and convenient. Porter took our bags for us, tipped him $2 a bag. Went right through port authority no problem. On the ship eating lunch by 2pm.

First stop was George Town, Grand Cayman. Went swimming with the sting rays, my wife and I loved this and also went snorkeling very beautiful coral garden there with a large variety of fish. Besides this I don't think we would return to this port. Very expensive there and not much else I would enjoy doing.

On to Cozumel, Yeah Cozumel. Loved it here. Very friendly people and lots of Tequila and shopping. Can get some really great deals here. Just make sure that you go to the shops off the main strip and don't pay the first asking price and haggle, haggle, haggle. Will probably get even better deals if fewer ships in port. More We had 4 on the day we arrived. I am looking forward to returning to this port a number of times.

Belize was next, enjoyed it here alot also. We went cave tubing with yonney at cavetubing.com (NOT CAVETUBING.NET) This guy is great and knows what he is doing. Very, very funny guy. His bus driver introduced us to the belizian sport of Nasbus, that's right Nasbus. This guy (Sunny) drove the bus throughout the streets like a nascar. Very fun and exciting. Their prices were way better than the cruise line about 2 for the price of one. Actually every port we visited we used local guides instead of going on the cruise excursions and saved alot of money this way. Also, try the Belizian beer taste like amber bach but with more punch (4.8 alc vol) If you book with Yonney you will have the opportunity to try some.

Last stop was Honduras, very beautiful from a distance, but alot of trash in the water and in the streets. I am not really sure if the children are made to go to school here or not, they were all out in the streets and will lead you around the streets. They will want some compensation in the end. One word of advice DO NOT TRUST ALEX! this is one of the tour guides that did pull a number on us. He told us that the price to on the zip line tour is originally $45, but that he would give us the zip line tour and island tour for $25 each. But when we got to the zip line guess what? They wanted $45 a piece. So with this spoiling this visit we went back to the ship without finishing our island tour. We ran into him again on the way back to the ship and he said we misunderstood him. No he lied and thats that. Me and my wife both heard him say the same thing. So to anyone going to this destination DO NOT TRUST ALEX!

This ship was great and the service was absolutely fabulous. The rooms where kept clean at all times. It seemed like every time you left the room that it was cleaned for you. The shows onboard where great and they have a live orchestra. The food at lunch could use alot of work, I recommend the New York deli, great sandwiches with the meat sliced right before your eyes. If you get a chance go to the Golden Fleece Supper Club, the food there is 5 star and for nominal $30 per person it is worth every penny. Less
